Her­bert L. Fos­ter is a teacher researcher author pro­fes­sor emer­i­tus and in demand speak­er. Born in the Bronx he grew up in Brook­lyn. Enlist­ing in the US Army he served in the occu­pa­tion of Japan in WWII. With the GI Bill he took his B.S. and M.A. from NYU School of Edu­ca­tion and Ed. D. from Colum­bia Uni­ver­si­ty Teach­ers Col­lege. He was a NYC teacher and admin­is­tra­tor for 17 years and a pro­fes­sor at SUNY/​Buffalo for 28 years. His is the author of the best-sell­ing Rib­bin’ Jivin’ and Playin’ the Dozens: The Per­sis­tent Dilem­ma in our Schools. Herb host­ed Inside Edu­ca­tion a half hour inter­view pro­gram on WBFO FM — NPR affil­i­ate in Buf­fa­lo. Now hosts Inside Edu­ca­tion on MVTV on Maratha’s Vine­yard. He is retired and an elect­ed Library Trustee in Edgar­town MA. Herb is Pres­i­dent Emer­i­tus of the Reform MV Hebrew Cen­ter and a for­mer Trustee of the MV NAACP.
