Herbert L. Foster is a teacher researcher author professor emeritus and in demand speaker. Born in the Bronx he grew up in Brooklyn. Enlisting in the US Army he served in the occupation of Japan in WWII. With the GI Bill he took his B.S. and M.A. from NYU School of Education and Ed. D. from Columbia University Teachers College. He was a NYC teacher and administrator for 17 years and a professor at SUNY/Buffalo for 28 years. His is the author of the best-selling Ribbin’ Jivin’ and Playin’ the Dozens: The Persistent Dilemma in our Schools. Herb hosted Inside Education a half hour interview program on WBFOFM — NPR affiliate in Buffalo. Now hosts Inside Education on MVTV on Maratha’s Vineyard. He is retired and an elected Library Trustee in Edgartown MA. Herb is President Emeritus of the Reform MV Hebrew Center and a former Trustee of the MVNAACP.
