Paper Brigade Award for New Israeli Fiction in Honor of Jane Weitzman
This award seeks to honor an outstanding short work or excerpt of Israeli fiction published in Hebrew. Its goals are to introduce American readers to new Israeli writers, to help Israeli writers gain access to the American market, and to interest American publishers in publishing new Israeli fiction. The winning selection is published in Paper Brigade in both Hebrew and English.
The inaugural (2018) winner of the Paper Brigade Award for New Israeli Fiction in Honor of Jane Weitzman was Maya Arad (Our Lady of Kazan), selected by guest judge and translator Jessica Cohen.
The 2019 winner was Shimon Adaf (Mox Nox, translated by Philip Simpson).
The 2021 winner was Oren Gazit (The First Ending, Then the Second, translated by Jessica Rutman Setbon).
The 2022 winner is Miron C. Izakson (Furthermore, translated by Joseph Faust).
