Dr. Ruth K. Wes­t­heimer was a ther­a­pist who pio­neered speak­ing frankly about inti­mate mat­ters on radio. Start­ing in 1980, her fif­teen-minute taped seg­ment, air­ing after mid­night on Sun­days, grew into to a live, one-hour call-in show. Her unique, open style allowed her to com­mu­ni­cate effec­tive­ly through almost every medi­um, includ­ing radio, tele­vi­sion, books, news­pa­pers, games, home video, and com­put­er software.
