Derek J. Penslar is the William Lee Frost Pro­fes­sor of Jew­ish His­to­ry at Har­vard Uni­ver­si­ty in Cam­bridge, Mass­a­chu­setts. He is the author of sev­er­al books, includ­ing Theodor Her­zl: The Charis­mat­ic Leader and Jews and the Mil­i­tary: A History.
