Chavi Eve Karkowsky, MD, is a NY-based mater­nal-fetal med­i­cine spe­cial­ist. She has lived in Israel, most recent­ly 2017 – 2019, where the book was writ­ten in a suc­ces­sion of Tel Aviv cafes; and she worked as a high-risk obste­tri­cian at a small hos­pi­tal in Netanya dur­ing that time. Her writ­ing has appeared in Slate, The Atlantic, and The Wash­ing­ton Post.
