This light, funny novel is about people searching for love and falling in and out of it. Joe abruptly breaks up his 50-year marriage,
causing financial and emotional upheaval for his 75-year-old wife and two adult daughters as they are forced to move in
together. The book is replete with observations of how well and badly people behave in different types of relationships. It is a modern
day version of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, set in Manhattan, Palm Springs and Westport, Connecticut. Although there are
no surprises, Schine is adept at detailing the settings and emotions of her colorful characters.
