Those in need of a very simple book explaining Passover to young children may find this useful. It is part of Capstone’s “First Facts” Series under the heading of “Holidays and Culture,” which includes Chinese New Year, Diwali, Juneteenth, and Ramadan, among many others. Kerry M. Olitzky, the executive director of the Jewish Outreach Institute is listed as consultant.
The book includes a table of contents, a glossary, and index, and a page suggesting other books and how to use the “Facthound” internet portal to search for information. Useful for a second grade report on “holidays,” the book is appropriate, colorful and attractively designed, but the stock photos are uninspired. A somewhat dull-looking Afikoman Holder is included as a craft idea. For ages 6 – 8.
