Avi Shilon is a 36-year-old jour­nal­ist and PhD stu­dent. Since com­plet­ing his mil­i­tary ser­vice in 1997, he has worked as a writer, edi­tor, and colum­nist cov­er­ing cul­ture, social and polit­i­cal issues for Israel’s lead­ing news­pa­pers and web­sites, Maariv, Globes, and Haaretz. In 2007, he became the edi­tor of the op-ed page edi­tor for Israel­Hay­om, Israel’s most wide­ly read and cir­cu­lat­ed news­pa­per.

He holds a B.A. in phi­los­o­phy and an M.A. in Jew­ish his­to­ry, both from Tel Aviv Uni­ver­si­ty. He is cur­rent­ly work­ing on a PhD in the polit­i­cal sci­ence depart­ment at Bar-Ilan University.
