Join Jew­ish Book Coun­cil and the JCC Man­hat­tan for a vir­tu­al book club dis­cus­sion fea­tur­ing Ruth Madievsky, the acclaimed author of the nation­al best­selling nov­el, ​“All-Night Phar­ma­cy,” win­ner of the Nation­al Jew­ish Book Award for Debut Fic­tion. The New York Times laud­ed the book as ​“ten­der and hilar­i­ous,” and it has been rec­og­nized as a Best/​Most Antic­i­pat­ed 2023 Book by numer­ous out­lets, includ­ing NPR, Van­i­ty Fair, Vogue, and Buz­zfeed.

Ruth Madievsky​’s lit­er­ary prowess extends beyond her nov­el; her fic­tion, non­fic­tion, and poet­ry have graced pres­ti­gious pub­li­ca­tions such as The Atlantic, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, and Tin House.Her debut poet­ry col­lec­tion, ​“Emer­gency Brake,” achieved sig­nif­i­cant suc­cess, spend­ing five months on Small Press Dis­tri­b­u­tion​’s Poet­ry Best­sellers list and sell­ing out its ini­tial print run of 1,750 copies. Madievsky’s achieve­ments include win­ning The Amer­i­can Poet­ry Review​’s Stan­ley Kunitz Memo­r­i­al Prize, The Iowa Review​’s Tim McGin­nis Award for fic­tion, and secur­ing a Tin House schol­ar­ship in poet­ry. As a found­ing mem­ber of the Cheburash­ka Col­lec­tive, she con­tributes to a com­mu­ni­ty of women and non­bi­na­ry writ­ers whose expe­ri­ences have been shaped by immi­gra­tion from the Sovi­et Union to the Unit­ed States.
