Roundabout is a fictional love story about a woman whose longtime lover has just died. Sally, a dance teacher and the child of Holocaust survivors, has lived in fear of loved ones suddenly disappearing, and Felix’s death triggers deep soul searching. As she goes through his possessions in the seaside cottage outside Cape Town that they shared for just five years, she recalls their meeting as students in South Africa, and their fleeing encounters while both living in the US. Brought up to strive for honesty and kindness, this is perhaps her greatest test. Feeling at times as petulant as a young girl about being abandoned, she begins to understand how her scars and his kept them apart, and what it took for them to finally come together. The story opens with heartbreak, but it ends with healing and new appreciation for Felix’s love, and the love she shares now with his children.
