I was born in Brook­lyn, lived in a Jew­ish neigh­bor­hood and assumed the whole world was Jew­ish until I went to col­lege at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Cal­i­for­nia at Berke­ley. Return­ing to NY after col­lege, I taught soci­ol­o­gy at Brook­lyn Col­lege for 40 years and wrote a book about tak­ing care of elder­ly par­ents large­ly based on my own experience.
