Blue silk kippot inscribed with, Bar Mitzvah of Joshua Jacobs” are given to guests at Josh’s Bar Mitzvah. Uncle Avi Abelson flies back to Los Angeles and one of Josh’s kippot flies with him. When Uncle Avi wears the Kippah to tashlich on Rosh Hashanah a big wind blows the kippah off his head and onto the head of Benjamin Brody who is visiting from Sydney Australia. Josh’s kippah travels to Australia, Israel, Paris, Argentina, Miami and back to New York where Izzy Isaacs finds it and puts it in the synagogue’s kippah box. Josh’s kippah is worn in celebration of each major holiday of the Jewish calendar (Yom Kippur, Simchat Torah , Succot, Hanukah, Purim, Passover and Shavuot). The full page watercolor illustrations add fun and excitement to the text. Some depict a woman wearing a kippah along with mixed seating in the synagogue. The book includes a simple map illustrating the route of the kippah which can make for a fun geography lesson for children. A glossary of Jewish terms is included. For ages 4 – 8.
