In this environmental legal thriller, Mike Jacobs is a smart and talented young environmental prosecutor with Pennsylvania’s DEP. He is working on his first major investigation — miscreants have dumped toxic chemicals into the Susquehanna River that has resulted in the death of two teenagers. He and his team must stop the dumpers from dumping again. While his conviction for protecting the environment is strong, he has a complicated relationship with Judaism — at one time he wanted to be a Rabbi like his older brother. Then he became distant from his faith and pursued a career in environmental law. Mike is full of contradictions and can be naïve at times. In addition to the investigation, he is torn between two women who love him one Jewish the other not. His brother, the Rabbi, gives him advice from Hillel the Sage, for handling both his case and his personal dilemma, ‘in a place where there are no men, be a man.’ Mike follows this advice, but is he too late to make a difference?
