Ash­er J. Melz­er was born on a moun­tain cave out­side Volos, Greece, while hid­ing from the Nazis. He is an adjunct pro­fes­sor of polit­i­cal sci­ence at St. John’s Uni­ver­si­ty of super­viv­sor of stu­dent teach­ers at Queens Col­lege-CUNY.
