Dr. Alla Shapiro, M.D., Ph.D trained as pedi­atric hema­tol­o­gist in Kiev, Ukraine. She head­ed the field team sur­vey­ing the med­ical effects on chil­dren in the Cher­nobyl vicin­i­ty. Dr. Shapiro com­plet­ed recer­ti­fi­ca­tion and reli­cens­ing in the Unit­ed States. She served as a Med­ical Offi­cer in the Divi­sion of Oncol­o­gy Drug Prod­ucts (DODP) Cen­ter for Drug Eval­u­a­tion and Research, Food and Drug Admin­is­tra­tion from 2000 – 2003. From 2003 to 2019 Dr. Shapiro served as a Med­ical Offi­cer as a mem­ber of the Counter-Ter­ror­ism and Emer­gency Coor­di­na­tion Staff, Cen­ter for Drug Eval­u­a­tion and Research (CDER), US Food and Drug Admin­is­tra­tion. Dr. Shapiro is a sub­ject mat­ter expert in Spe­cial Review Boards and Spe­cial Empha­sis Pan­els. She has pre­sent­ed at numer­ous sci­en­tif­ic and pub­lic forums, domes­tic and inter­na­tion­al. She has also co-authored mul­ti­ple sci­en­tif­ic pub­li­ca­tions. In August 2019, Dr. Shapiro retired from fed­er­al ser­vice. She cur­rent­ly works as a Con­sul­tant and Advi­so­ry Board mem­ber for the two phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal companies.
