Joel Green­berg holds an MA and a JD degree from Wash­ing­ton Uni­ver­si­ty (St. Louis). His career has focused on envi­ron­men­tal pro­tec­tion, and he has worked for the Illi­nois Nature Pre­serves Com­mis­sion, City of Chica­go Depart­ment of Envi­ron­ment, and oth­er enti­ties. Green­berg has pub­lished four books on nature includ­ing A Nat­ur­al His­to­ry of the Chica­go Region and A Feath­ered Riv­er Across the Sky: The Pas­sen­ger Pigeon’s Flight to Extinc­tion. Green­berg has writ­ten nature relat­ed essays for inclu­sion in two vol­umes and has pub­lished numer­ous reviews and arti­cles in a host of publications.
