Ran­dolph Split­ter has pub­lished three oth­er books, includ­ing a nov­el called The Ramadan Drum­mer and a psy­cho­an­a­lyt­ic study of Mar­cel Proust. He grew up on Long Island, the child of refugees who left Vien­na in 1938. He cur­rent­ly lives with his wife in Port­land, Ore­gon, where he dodges rain­drops, writes nov­els, and exer­cis­es his social conscience.
