I Go to a Wed­ding is a young child’s first look at a Jew­ish wed­ding. Benen­feld does a good job incor­po­rat­ing all the new vocab­u­lary words that obser­vant chil­dren will hear dur­ing the course of the sim­cha. All parts of the wed­ding cel­e­bra­tion are cov­ered, with sim­ple expla­na­tions. The sen­tences rhyme and the lan­guage is uncom­pli­cat­ed, just at the right lev­el for a preschool­er. The sim­ple, bright­ly col­ored illus­tra­tions have some child appeal, and include real­is­tic details, like a mechitzah at the recep­tion.
