Ben Hecht (1893 – 1964) was an Amer­i­can screen­writer (Scar­face,The Front Page, Noto­ri­ous), reporter, play­wright, jour­nal­ist, and nov­el­ist. Accord­ing to Pauline Kael, he was ​“the great­est Amer­i­can screenwriter.”
